Park Beach Plaza Bush Fire Appeal

$50,000 Raised for our Local Bushfire Victims

Congratulations to the community of the Coffs Coast and our holiday makers who have all contributed to the Park Beach Plaza and Park Beach HomeBase Bushfire Appeal.  Since December the shopping centres have had collection boxes instore and the funds raised from generous customers totalled $21,500.

The Bachrach Naumburger Group, owners of the centres, have added to this incredible public effort by matching the customer tally and donating a further $21,500.  Steve Gooley, General Manager of The Bachrach Naumburger Group said, “We were so impressed by the community’s response to the Bush Fire Appeal our only way to applaud the community was to match this tremendous effort dollar for dollar!”

Ritchies Supa IGA donated a further $2,000 by gifting their place winning cheque from the 2019 Coffs Community Christmas Parade.  Jesse Fowler, Store Manager from Ritchies Supa IGA added, “We couldn’t think of a better way to make a contribution to our local community than passing on our winning cheque for such a good community cause.”

The Coffs Harbour Rotary Club have raised a further $5,000 representing donations received locally include a donation of $4,400 from the Rotary Club of Hunters Hill in Sydney, making the total raised for those impacted by the bushfires to a massive $50,000!

The Bachrach Naumburger Group have partnered with Coffs Harbour Rotary Club and the many other Rotary Clubs on the mid north cost to distribute the funds ensuring no funds were lost to administration fees and to ensure that the money stays local.

Group Marketing Manager for The Bachrach Naumburger Group, Caroline Laine said, “We realise the worst of our local fires were back in November and have now finalised the shopping centre donations, so we are keen to ensure this money is distributed to locals in need as quickly as possible!”

“We have been working closely with Rotary to set criteria for funding requests and we urge those in need to apply for funding immediately.  Our goal is to help as many people as possible,” Caroline added.

The criteria for funding is quite simple and is designed to try and assist as many people as possible.  Applicants need to be a resident in the local catchment area this includes Nymboida, Dorrigo and Macksville regions.  The applicants should be significantly impacted by the recent fire events, but it should be noted that funds will not be granted for items that could have been covered by insurance.

The 2019/20 President of Coffs Harbour Rotary Club, Paul Mc Ara said, ” We look forward to working with the management of Park Beach Plaza and Park Beach HomeBase to ensure the funds are reaching our locals in need.”
